1. Privates Exhibition Catalog
Selections from Mauser and Albright’s personal art collections were installed on a two-walled construction within the gallery, suggesting the pages of an open book, and ultimately a space between exhibition making and publishing. New constellations of artworks were re-arranged over the duration of the exhibition and documented to become an online and printed archive. Privates highlights how artistic behavior creates and supports intricate systems of association and reference within our own homes. Thus, the semi-arbitrary accumulation of artworks and discrete objects that constitute our personal collections intersect and exist parallel to studio practice. The collections expose a spectrum of value systems that connect exquisitely handcrafted one-of-a-kind objects to second-hand finds to internet marketplace acquisitions to bootleg fabrications. These accumulated objects represent the variable systems of value, labor, exchange, negotiation, and giving in which artists exist.
